Our Repertoire
Fairfax Singers have a wonderfully varied programme of works and music which include items from Edward Elgar; Karl Jenkins; Flanders and Swann; Gerald Finzi; Gustav Holst; Haydn; Handel; Mozart; Thomas Tallis; Gabriel Faure; Edward German; Cezar Franck; Queen; Andrew Lloyd Webber; Elton John; Cole Porter; Jerome Kerne; George Shearing; George Gershwin; Richard Rogers; Alan Simmons; John Rutter and many more popular composers, some modern…. some not so! Our varied programme changes from Season to Season and our Christmas Selection often contains a Community Carol section when you can join in with all your favourites.
Venues
We have performed in many of the local churches: St John’s Parish Church, Menston; St Peter’s Parish Church, Addingham; Baildon Methodist; Bingley Parish Church; St Margaret’s Parish Church, Horsforth; Grove Methodist Church, Horsforth; Christchurch, Ilkley, Saltaire United Reformed Church; Mount Hermon Chapel, Addingham; Bridge Church, Otley; Otley Parish Church; Bramhope Methodist Church; SS John Fisher & More, Burley in Wharfedale; Headingley St Columba United Reformed Church; and St Chads Headingley, St Oswald’s Parish Church, Guiseley, all with very mixed programmes and items which we hoped would entertain.
… we have also been found in these village halls: Arthington; Old Pool Village Hall; Queen’s Hall, Burley in Wharfedale … and corporate venues like Bradford City Hall; Hazlewood Castle; Burley in Wharfedale Summer Festival; Otley Rugby Club; Hoyle Court, Baildon; The Marriott Hotel, Leeds; The Midland Hotel, Bradford; Korks Restaurant, Otley – oh yes! and even the Tax Office in Shipley
… and other venues including Ilkley Bandstand; Caring For Life at Crag House Farm, Cookridge; The Victoria Quarter, Leeds City Centre; Robert’s Park Bandstand, Saltaire; The Clarke Foley Centre; Ilkley Men’s Forum; and Kirklands, Menston; Gargrave Open Gardens; Otley Parish Church.
Some of our functions are Private but many are fund raising events for deserving charities or necessary repairs to old and beautiful buildings.
